National Pick Strawberries Day

Happy National Pick Strawberries Day! We’re so lucky in that we live right next to Watsonville which is the strawberry capital of the US. And for Mother’s Day this year we took Sofie strawberry picking as a family. It was so much fun to watch her snag all of the strawberries and eat them as we went. The whole trip inspired me to design this adorable Strawberry Picking Dramatic play kit. How cute are these sensory set ups by @allthibgslambandroo and @pockets.of.sweetness!?

Sight Words For Breakfast

This morning we used breakfast as an opportunity to practice our sight words! I thought these would be really hard for Sofie to get, but surprisingly, she could repeat every single word! It was so fun to hold them up and have her say each word out loud. I paired it with a special eggs and heart shaped toast for breakfast. I love doing creative little ways to make breakfast a special time since we really get to bond over breakfast.

Lately Sofie has been more interested in whatever I’m eating than what I’ve made for her. But I guess that comes with the toddler mom territory. She really liked the toast today though and that kept her busy while I was making my own breakfast. Because the toast and her sight words flashcards, she was all set to for a whine-free meal!

Learning Fruits for Breakfast

For breakfast today we practiced our fruits! So far Sofie can say “nana” for banana, “opple” for apple, and “oshg” for orange. She’s learning so many new words everyday is just fascinating. This morning I was trying to hold her off until she was a little hungrier for breakfast and this was the perfect entertainment. I could quiz her on each fruit and she would practice saying each word. I love our little bonding activities — it’s so fun to watch her learn basic words.
