🦄 Easy Unicorn Trifle Recipe (3 Ingredients + Magical Layers!)

November 11, 2025 Kylie Tuosto

If you’re looking for a magical dessert that’s easy, colorful, and kid-approved, this Unicorn Trifle Recipe is pure party perfection! With layers of teal, purple, and pink Cool Whip nestled between chunks of Trader Joe’s blondies and bits of toffee bar crunch, it’s a whimsical treat that doubles as the centerpiece of your unicorn-themed party.

This no-bake dessert is as fun to make as it is to eat — and with only three simple ingredients (plus a few decorative touches), it’s a guaranteed hit for little bakers, busy parents, and anyone who believes in a little kitchen magic.

✨ Why You’ll Love This Unicorn Dessert

  • Just 3 main ingredients! Simple, affordable, and mess-free.

  • No baking required — perfect for last-minute birthdays or playdates.

  • Toddler-approved — kids love layering the pastel Cool Whip clouds!

  • Looks magical — the pastel layers and unicorn horn make it camera-ready for Pinterest-perfect parties.

🦄 Ingredients

You’ll need:

  • Trader Joe’s Blondies (or any blondie or cookie bar)

  • Heath / Toffee Bars, crushed

  • Cool Whip, divided into three bowls

For decorating:

  • Pink food coloring (for marshmallow ears)

  • Mini marshmallows

  • Sugar cone or crystal ornament (for the horn)

  • Black paper or icing eyelashes

🌈 How to Make a Unicorn Trifle

Step 1: Prep Your Layers

Cut blondies into small cubes. Crush Heath bars into small crumbles. Divide Cool Whip into three bowls and tint each with pastel teal, purple, and pink food coloring.

Step 2: Build Your Trifle

In a clear trifle dish:

  1. Add a layer of blondie cubes.

  2. Spoon on a layer of teal Cool Whip.

  3. Sprinkle toffee crumbles on top.

  4. Add another layer of blondie cubes, followed by purple Cool Whip, and more toffee.

  5. Finish with pink Cool Whip on top and a final sprinkle of toffee.

Step 3: Add the Unicorn Magic

Create unicorn ears by painting large square marshmallows with pink food coloring. I cut them in half diagonally to get the ear shape. Place them on top of your trifle along with a sugar cone or crystal ornament as the horn.

Add black eyelashes using icing or paper cutouts to give your trifle its adorable unicorn face. I used some eye lash stickers, but you can also draw them on with dry erase marker.

🎨 Make It Yours

  • Rainbow twist: Add more colors to your Cool Whip for a full rainbow trifle.

  • Mini versions: Serve in small clear cups for individual unicorn trifles — perfect for birthday party tables!

  • Toddler fun: Let little ones build their own — it’s a great way to combine fine motor skills with creative play.

💡 Sensory Play Meets Dessert

This unicorn trifle isn’t just a sweet treat — it’s a multi-sensory experience. Kids can touch, scoop, layer, and color, engaging their senses while building independence and creativity. The textures of the Cool Whip, the crunch of toffee, and the soft blondies make it a perfect taste-safe sensory play activity turned dessert.
