I’m so excited for all of the Easter inspiration coming out right now so I couldn’t wait to share my Easter Basket Stuffer wish list for 2022. This basket features some of my all time favorite shops and makers and I’m super excited to be supporting these small shops.
Flisat Sensory Play: Egg-Cellent Eggs
This morning Sofie was sick with a runny nose so during her nap I threw together this egg-themed invitation to play. With Easter coming up, it felt like the perfect theme. Sofie loves eating eggs everyday for breakfast so this gave us the perfect excuse to learn more about eggs and where they come from.
Egg-centric Activity Ideas:
Make some eggs: Okay this one is super obvious but if your toddler has a play kitchen then I’m sure they’ll love whipping you up something that you usually make for them. Sofie typically likes her eggs hard boiled but will occasionally request the scramble or fried like her momma. And if you don’t have the play setup, nothing is a substitute for the real thing. So jump in the kitchen and scramble away!
Lifecycle of a chicken: Sofie has just started to learn about lifecycles and how animals go through phases and change throughout their lives. For Easter I made her this adorable lifecycle of a Chicken Card Set so that she could learn more phases. Paired with this amazing Lifecycle Board from Kinderspiel, she’s learning and connecting so many dots it’s amazing. I also love these wooden eggs and this Plan Toys wooden breakfast set.
Egg shape & color matching: Sofie got this awesome gift last Christmas and she just loves it! I crack open all of the eggs one by one and lay them out on the floor. Then I pick one up and ask Sofie to find the match. She gets a total kick out of its awesome!
Breakfast felt food & flashcard matching: I’m a total sucker for felt food and this avocado toast set up was no exception. Sofie has pretty much all of the breakfast foods in felt so we started matching her Breakfast Flashcards with her felt toy collection. And she loves laying them all out on the floor side by side. Hae Handmade makes the cutest felt toys so I highly recommend checking out her shop.
Play Kitchen Cooking Play: Sofie loves her new play kitchen and having wooden food play on hand has been awesome. She loves going into her kitchen to cook. I also love these wooden eggs and this Plan Toys wooden breakfast set. I paired this setup with this amazing book Touch Think Learn Food book.
Easter Deviled Eggs
Today we made Easter deviled eggs for our afternoon snack! We boiled up some hardboiled eggs, peeled them (which turned out to be more challenging than I thought!), and cut them up. We took a butter knife and aiming in toward the yolk at an angle, we made little peaks for the cracked egg look. Even though a few of the eggs didn’t turn out great, cutting them up this way hid a lot of the flaws! We took out the yolks and mashed them up with some mayo and paprika and salt.
I didn’t have a piping bag handy so I just went ahead and used a ziploc bag and cut the tip to squirt the filling into the little egg cups. I didn’t have anything legit handy to make the eyes, but I did happen to have a kiwi and the seeds worked perfectly for the eyes. Then we took little slices of cheese in triangles to make the chick’s beaks. And there you have it! A fun and simple little Easter egg activity perfect for an afternoon snack!
Eggs (hard boiled)
Mayo
Paprika & Salt (or other seasonings)
Cheese for beaks
Kiwi seeds for eyes!

Easter Sugar Cookies
Today we’re getting into the Easter Spirit with these super fun sugar cookies. I snagged these adorable cookie cutters from one of my favorite Etsy shops Holly Fox Design — if you want some cookie inspiration, you have to follow her on instagram! We started by making the cookie dough (straight out of the bag because who has time for cookies from scratch?). We mixed it up and rolled it out. We didn’t have a rolling pin, so we flattened it out by hand — which turned out to be a bit of a mistake because the first batch was too thick. So we rolled it out a bit thinner and popped them in the oven.
Then we started making the royal icing. We mixed a large batch of white, split it into bowls, and mixed up these gorgeous pastel colors. Some of the textures were a little bit off, but that’s okay, we had fun decorating them anyway. And Sofie kept running around saying “cookie, cookie, cookie!”. It was so much fun decorating these and laying them out to make the house festive for Easter! Check out the photos below of Sofie in her cutest little Easter outfit from Eighth Day Creations.

Taste Safe Rainbow Finger Paints
I finally found an amazing “recipe” for taste safe fingerprints. Sofie still points everything in her mouth, as I’m sure many one year olds do. So it’s no surprise that I’m constantly on the lookout for taste safe activities that can keep this busy toddler occupied for more than five minutes. She loves sensory activities so even though I knew this one would be messy, I figured I’d give it a go!
Yogurt
Food coloring
This one is so simple to make because all you need is a big tub of yogurt and some food coloring and voila you have a fun little activity! I will say I was skeptical about how yogurt would really paint on but her paper. And to be honest, I probably would have done it differently had I known.
Here’s the yogurt being colored! Super simple and just one drop of coloring really turned it bright pink!
I wanted Sofie to be able to paint a little rainbow so I made these edible paints in rainbow colors. I made each one in the same tub to avoid doing dishes and just washed it as I went. Then I poured them into these plastic jars that I got at Michael’s for under a dollar!
It was so much fun to make these rainbow colored paints that I almost didn’t want to let Sofie make a mess of them. But I went ahead and put some butcher paper down on the kitchen floor and taped it down with painters tape. In hindsight, I wish I had done it two layers thick because the yogurt was quite liquidy and it did deep through the paper. It was still pretty easy to clean up though.
I put the paints up on her high chair for safe keeping while I got everything ready. But that didn’t last long — she was reaching for them as soon as she saw them. I stripped her down to her diaper so as not to get her clothes messy. Then I opened up one jar at a time and let her have at! Here’s the result:

Fruit, Veggies, & color practice
Today for dinner we decided to use what we were cooking as an opportunity to learn our colors and fruits & veggies. Fruit is so colorful and beautiful and a great way to help match the concept of color. Sofie loves holding the different textures of each food we tried. She doesn’t quite know her colors yet, but she’s always learning!
